Erkan Arıkan (born February 13, 1969 in Bandırma , Turkey ) is a German television presenter of Turkish descent and has been head of the Turkish editorial team at Deutsche Welle since November 2018 .

Life

In 1970, at the age of one , he moved to Germany with his parents, then so-called guest workers . While studying law at the Free University of Berlin , Arıkan was initially an editor and presenter at the private radio broadcaster Kiss FM , after which he started as the editor in charge of the satirical magazine Nachschlag . After a traineeship at n-tv , he worked as a news editor and presenter at the station. Erkan Arikan was the first Turkish-born news presenter on German television in January 2001.

In 2004 he completed the part -time course in journalism training at the journalism college of the Free University of Berlin. He became the editor-in-chief of the Turkish editorial team in the WDR's Funkhaus Europa . From mid-January 2008 to the end of 2012 he worked as an editor at ARD-aktuell in Hamburg. Among other things, he performed various activities at the TV station tagesschau24 .

Previously, he was also seen as a moderator of discussions on the public television channel Phoenix . In addition, he was u. a. to be seen in the ARD broadcast Press Club .
