Ermelo is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) in the northern Portuguese district of Arcos de Valdevez .

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Ermelo and São Jorge were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de São Jorge e Ermelo .
