history
The hermitage was built in the Mudejar style in the 12th century . The building consists of the part of the choir with the crossing tower, which belonged to the Cistercian convent of Santa María de Gómez Román , founded in 1178 . Three apses with blind arcades adjoin the choir square .
Construction and plant
In the church, "Western Romanesque design elements mix with Arabic Mudéjar" (Schomann). Three semicircular apses and the square crossing tower built around 1220 were built. The nave was planned as a stepped hall, but was no longer built. The central apse has loopholed windows.
