Ernest Lauth

Ernest Lauth (born March 13, 1827 in Strasbourg ; † April 3, 1902 there ) was a German banker , mayor of Strasbourg and a member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Lauth was a banker and mayor of Strasbourg from 1871 to 1873. He was deposed as mayor in April 1873 because of his critical attitude towards the annexation of Alsace-Lorraine by the German Empire.

From 1874 to 1877 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Alsace-Lorraine 8 (Strasbourg) and the Alsatian protest party.
