Ernesto Bazan

Ernesto Bazan (* 1959 in Palermo , Italy ) is an Italian photographer .

Life

Bazan, born in Palermo in 1959, went to New York in 1979 to study photography at the School of Visual Arts. In 1982 he became a member of the Magnum Photos photo agency , which he left two years later. In 1982 he published Il passato perpetuo , a project about the Italian-American community in New York. In 1993 his second book Passing through was published . From 1992 to 2006 he lived mostly in Cuba and documented an important phase in Cuban history: El Periodo Especial. Bazan's photos have been exhibited in Europe, Latin America, and the United States.
