biography

As a player

The first detectable station in the professional career of Ernesto Candia was the inaugural season of 1943-44 the Mexican Primera División when he at UD Moctezuma was under contract and at the beginning of the same season, the Copa México won in 1943 and the final of the Mexican Supercup denied .

After two seasons with Moctezuma, Candia moved to CD Tampico before the 1945/46 season and another three years later to the Spanish top club Atlético Madrid , for whom he worked in the seasons 1948/49 and 1949/50 and with whom he was Spanish Champion of the Year 1950 was.

He then returned to Tampico and won the Mexican championship and the Supercup with the Celestes in 1952/53.

Immediately after these successes (which should not be repeated in the history of the CD Tampico) Candia switched to the CD Zacatepec and won two further championship titles with the Verdiblancos (1955 and 1958) as well as the Copa México (1957) and the Supercup ( 1958).

He then played for the CD Cuautla , with which he was relegated to the second division at the end of the 1958/59 season.

As a trainer

After finishing his active career, Candia continued to work as a coach in Mexico. After an unpromising start - relegation with his long-time club CD Tampico from the Primera División at the end of the 1962/63 season - he experienced great success and within just six years led three different clubs from the Segunda División to the first division. He succeeded in 1964/65 with CF Madero , 1966/67 with Pachuca and 1969/70 with Zacatepec.
