Ernie Pyle Island is a small island in Cagles Mill Lake , Indiana . It is located near the southeast end of the lake in Jackson Township , Owen County near Indiana State Road 42 Bridge. The uninhabited island measures approximately 150 by 190 meters.
Namesake Ernie Pyle was a war reporter and Pulitzer Prize winner from Indiana, who fell on the Japanese island of Iejima in 1945 .
