Ernst Alfred O'Swald

Ernst Alfred O'Swald (born March 22, 1861 in Hamburg ; † January 10, 1929 there ) was a Hamburg businessman and politician .

Life

O'Swald became a clerk in 1881 in the company Wm O'Swald & Co, founded by his grandfather . From 1883 to 1890 he worked in Africa and Madagascar . In 1891 he received power of attorney and in 1894 he became a partner in Wm O'Swald & Co. From 1897 to 1921, O'Swald was a member of the building deputation. O'Swald was a member of the finance deputation from 1904 to 1922. From 1898 to 1908 O'Swald was a member of the Hamburg citizenship , as a member of the right-wing parliamentary group . He was part of the supervisory board of Deutsche Bank and the Hamburger Freihafen-Lagerhaus-Gesellschaft .

O'Swald married on September 20, 1890 Helene Antonie Haller (1866–1949), a daughter of Martin Haller . William Henry O'Swald was his uncle, Theodor E. Behrens and Max Schramm were each married to his sisters.

There is a grave slab for Ernst Alfred and Toni O'Swald in the O'Swald family complex, directly opposite the Schramm family's grave in a shared niche in the Ohlsdorf cemetery (grid square S 23).
