Ernst Ammer

Ernst Ammer (born April 11, 1877 in Reutlingen , † January 6, 1963 ) was a German entrepreneur . He is considered one of the great minds in the leather industry.

Life

He was the son of Ernst Ammer from Reutlingen and his wife Susanne nee Gund from Avignon . After attending the secondary school in Reutlingen, Ernst Ammer completed a three-year commercial apprenticeship. He then worked first in French-speaking Switzerland and then abroad. He then joined his father's business, founded in 1876, as a leather manufacturer. He became senator of the Kaiser Wilhelm Society for the Promotion of Science , head of the leather industry business group and the leather industry specialist group. He was also appointed Vice President of the Württemberg Chamber of Commerce in Reutlingen.

In March 1938 he was taken over by the striker. German weekly newspaper on the fight for the truth in public accused of still hiring a Jew to represent his company legally.

In January 1942 Ernst Ammer handed over the management of the economic group to Ludwig Cornelius von Heyl from Worms . After the Second World War he worked on the board of the Central Association of the German Leather Industry.

From 1954 to 1963 Ernst Ammer was chairman of the West German Tanning School.

The area of the former Ernst Ammer leather factory on Albstraße in Reutlingen is now a listed building and has been renovated.

Honors

In May 1952 Ernst Ammer received the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st Class.

Ernst Ammer was with the daughter of the secret councilor Dr. Johann Kienzle married, Marie Ammer was born in 1905. From this marriage a daughter and two sons were born.
