Ernst Cloer

Ernst Cloer (born June 26, 1939 ) is a German educationalist . He is a professor emeritus at the University of Hildesheim .

Career

After studying to become a teacher at primary schools in Dortmund , Cloer worked from 1961 to 1966 as an upper level teacher at a two-class rural school. From 1966 to 1972 he studied education , theology and philosophy at the Ruhr University Bochum , where he received his doctorate in education in 1972 under Oskar Anweiler and Klaus Schaller . After his time as a research assistant at the PH Ruhr, Dortmund department, he was professor for general education at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen from 1974 to 1977 . In 1977 he became a full professor for general education at the university, later at the University of Hildesheim. From 1989 to 1991 Cloer was rector in Hildesheim and from 2001 to 2003 he was chairman and director of the center for education and teaching research.

Research interests

In addition to general pedagogy and educational theory, the focus of his research activities is on youth book research, educational biography research and the history of science in education in the GDR.
