Ernst Franke (politician)
Ernst Franke (born June 14, 1892 in Hamburg , † 1940 in the Soviet Union ) was a German politician of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD). From 1921 to 1924 he was a member of the Hamburg Parliament .
Life
The worker Ernst Franke fought in World War I and in 1917 joined the Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany (USPD), was close to its left wing and joined the KPD in 1920. In the same year he became a full-time party secretary in Hamburg. In 1921 Franke was elected to the Hamburg parliament, to which he belonged until 1924.
In 1932 Franke moved to the Soviet Union. In 1937 he fell victim to the Great Terror under Stalin in Kharkov , was interned in a gulag and died in 1940.
