Ernst Guhl

Ernst Karl Guhl (born July 20, 1819 in Berlin ; † August 20, 1862 there ) was a university lecturer, art writer and etcher .

Life

He was the son of Adam Wilhelm Guhl and Wilhelmine Caroline Gehricke . His parents had him baptized in the Jerusalem Church on September 5, 1819 .

His artistic career began under the influence of the " Berlin School of Art History ". First he was a private lecturer , later professor and secretary of the Berlin Academy and professor at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität . With Wilhelm Koner he wrote The Lives of the Greeks and Romans , of which six editions appeared up to 1893.

Guhl was a regular employee at the Deutsches Kunstblatt .
