Ernst Hueter (born January 16, 1896 in Barmen , † January 24, 1954 in Darmstadt ) was Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt.

Life

Ernst Karl Hermann Hueter was born as the son of Richard Hueter and his wife Feodora Steinweg on January 16, 1896 in Barmen. During the First World War, he first studied physics at the Philipps University of Marburg , where he joined the Corps Hasso-Nassovia . In 1921 he moved to the TH Darmstadt and studied electrical engineering a. a. with Waldemar Petersen . For his graduation he was awarded the Müller-Alewyn Medal on October 23, 1923. He then worked as an assistant to his teacher Waldemar Petersen. In 1926 Hueter was awarded a Dr.-Ing. PhD. In 1928 he completed his habilitation in Darmstadt and received the venia legendi on May 2, 1928. Already on October 1, 1928 he was appointed to a full professor in the subject of electrical engineering. He represented Waldemar Petersen's chair for high voltage technology, which had been vacant since the spring of 1926, as well as the chair for electrical measurement technology. His areas were primarily power transmission and transformation. The measurement technology was also fertilized by Hueter with new types of equipment. So he invented a harmonic meter and an earth fault compensometer. On August 28, 1929 he married Auguste Dingeldey, daughter of the Privy Councilor Friedrich Dingeldey in Darmstadt. Ernst Hueter was dean of the electrical engineering department from 1930–1935, 1939–1941 and 1947–1950 . From 1935 Kurt Debus was his assistant at the TH Darmstadt.
