Ernst Kren

Ernst Kren (* 1962 in Admont ) is an Austrian media designer, mountaineer and author .

Life

Ernst Kren founded the graphic workshop Medien Manufaktur Admont in 1989 . He published numerous essays and articles in specialist alpine magazines and was involved in the new edition of the PES map, “Gesäuseberge und Ennstaler Alpen”, sheet 16 (2016). Kren has been collecting and looking after the historical picture archive of the Ennstal Alps, which consists of over 11,000 motifs, since 1990 .

Alpine Club

Since 2009 he has been 1st chairman of the PES section Admont-Gesäuse, since 1985 he has also been a member of the Selzthal mountain rescue service, the Admont mountain and nature watch and the supervisory body in the Gesäuse National Park and a founding member of the “Platform for the Protection of the Gesäuses” or “Team Gesäuse Kreativ”. As tourism chairman (1998–2002) he succeeded in reorganizing the regional tourism association and in this role played a key role in establishing the Gesäuse National Park . During his term of office, he initiated and built climbing routes in the Ennstal Alps (Bosruck-Wildfrauensteig, Bärenkarmauer-Hexensteig, Grabnerstein-Jungfernsteig, Tieflimauer-Teuflsteig and Gr. Buchstein-Südwandband). As the PES chairman, he was also responsible for the “Safe Paths Campaign” (2013–2015) and the implementation of an alpine education center in the Oberst-Klinke-Hütte (2015).
