Ernst Kunz (born March 10, 1933 in Heidelberg ) is a German mathematician who deals with algebraic geometry , differential algebra and commutative algebra .

Life

Kunz studied mathematics (and physics with the aim of becoming a grammar school teacher) at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg from 1953 to 1957 , where he received his doctorate in 1959 under Friedrich Karl Schmidt with the thesis The Primidealteiler der Differenten in general rings . In 1963 he completed his habilitation in Heidelberg. From 1969 he was full professor at the University of Regensburg , where he has been professor emeritus since 2001 . Kunz was among other things guest stays at the University of Munich , Purdue University (1967/68) and Louisiana State University (1968/69).
