Ernst Reez

Ernst Reez (born July 20, 1901 in Hamburg ; † July 31, 1988 ) was a German politician and former member of the state parliament ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school , he completed an apprenticeship as a baker and attended vocational school from 1916 to 1919 . In 1919 he moved to Gelsenkirchen and worked there as a miner from 1919 to 1956 . Reez was a member of the works council of the Bergmannsglück colliery from 1946 to 1956 .

In 1923 Reez joined the SPD and was the local group cashier until 1933. After the war he was a co-founder in 1946 and first chairman of the SPD local group Erle-Nord until 1966.

From July 13, 1954 to July 20, 1962, Reez was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was directly elected in constituency 098 Gelsenkirchen III.

He was a member of the Gelsenkirchen City Council from 1946 and was the bearer of the city's ring of honor.

In 1972 the unconditional commitment of Ernst Reez was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st Class, after the war.
