The Ernst Russ AG , formerly HCI Capital AG , is a publicly traded financial services company with a focus on asset and investment management of the asset classes Ship and Real Estate . The Ernst Russ Group currently looks after a fleet of around 80 container, tank, bulk and other ships. As a fund and asset manager, the company manages a large number of different properties from the ship, real estate and alternative investments segments .

HCI Capital

The starting point for the HCI Group was Hanseatische Capital Invest AG, founded in Bremen in 1985 . It started with the issue of ship investments. In 1997 the offer was expanded to include real estate funds and in 2000 with private equity funds of funds. The Hamburger Sachwert Treuhand (HST) division and the conception and sales division of HCI were merged in 2001 under the umbrella of HCI Holding GmbH .

The first secondary market life insurance funds were launched in 2003. The Hammonia Reederei was founded as a joint venture with Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG . HCI added asset creation plans to its range in 2004 and entered the Austrian market.

In 2005 HCI Holding GmbH was converted into HCI Capital AG and went public on October 6, 2005 with an issue price of EUR 20.50 and was initially traded in the Prime Standard of the German Stock Exchange.

The Hellespont Hammonia GmbH & Co. KG was founded together with the Hellespont Holding and the Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG . The year 2006 was marked by the participation in Aragon AG and the introduction of certificates.

In 2007, HCI launched a range of guarantee products and the first global real estate fund. HCI Hammonia Shipping AG was founded as a new subsidiary .

Up until the cash capital increase in 2011, HCI Capital was independent of banks. HSH Nordbank AG has held 19.9% ​​of the shares since 2011 .

In 2012 the HCI share switched from the Prime Standard to the Frankfurt Entry Standard and the Mittelstandsbörse Deutschland segment in Hamburg.

Until April 17, 2013, the competitor MPC Capital AG also held a 25.58% stake.

Since October 1, 2013, the 23 closed real estate funds of HCI Capital AG have been managed by Bilfinger Real Estate (formerly EPM Assetis), a subsidiary of the Bilfinger Group .

Since the HCI Group was founded in 1985, around 122,000 investors have participated in 526 issues with a total investment volume of around 15 billion euros and around 6 billion euros in equity (as of December 31, 2013). The company employs around 190 people in Germany, the Netherlands and Great Britain (as of December 31, 2012). In 2011, HCI Capital was the fourth largest provider of closed-end ship funds in Germany in terms of equity placed. In 2011 the company placed EUR 53.2 million in equity.
