Ernst Rutschmann (born November 9, 1948 in Winterthur ) is a former Swiss football player .

Career

Ernst Rutschmann first played with the juniors of FC Winterthur. He made his debut in the first team on September 16, 1967 in the 10-1 cup game against FC Vaduz, when he was substituted on relatively early in the game. In 1968 he was part of the starting line-up in the Cup final against FC Lugano . He played for Winterthur from 1967 to 1971 as a center and right striker. In 1970 he played the first of his nine national team appearances until 1975 .

In 1971 he moved to FC Zurich (FCZ) together with Timo Konietzka . With the FCZ, Rutschmann was three times Swiss champion (1974, 1975, 1976) and cup winner (1972, 1973, 1976). At FCZ, he first played two seasons in the storm and then moved to right midfield.

After his time in Zurich, Rutschmann moved to FC Gossau and FC Wettingen for one season each and then ended his active career.

From October 1986 to summer 1988, Rutschmann worked as a coach at FC Winterthur and then from 1989 to 1991 at FC Töss .
