Ernst Friedrich Gottlieb Schäfer (born November 30, 1830 in Kölleda , † January 12, 1899 in Neuemühle near Kassel ( Niederzwehren )) was a German civil servant and politician .

Schäfer was the son of NCO Michael Ernst Schäfer and his wife Amalie nee Martini. He married Agnes Caroline Amalie Kleinschmit on June 28, 1859 in Goddelsheim.

Schäfer attended the high school in Merseburg and private schools of the pastor Dr. Schwabe in Reisdorf and Pastor Brandt in Kölleda. He then trained as a geometer in Naumburg ad Saale. From 1847 to 1850 he was a geometer in Anhalt-Köthen and Altenburg. In 1851 he passed the surveyor's examination in Dresden and then worked in the Russian and Weimar services. In 1856 he switched to Waldeck's services and became an update officer in the Eisenberg district . From 1862 to 1867 he was economic commissioner at the domain administration, 1868 provisional district rent master and 1869 district rent master in Nieder-Wildungen. In 1884 he retired.

From 1878 to 1887 he was a member of the state parliament of the Principality of Waldeck-Pyrmont . He was elected in the constituency Kreis der Eder .
