Ernst Tegethoff

Ernst Julius Tegethoff (born October 10, 1890 in Kassel ; † August 15, 1955 ) was a German philologist, romance scholar and fairytale researcher.

Tegethoff studied German, Romance and English from 1909 to 1914 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . From 1914 to 1918 he was a soldier and belonged to the Royal Bavarian 16th Reserve Infantry Regiment . In 1919 he continued his studies in Munich and received his doctorate in 1922 with a thesis on the fairy tale type of Cupid and Psyche and created the comparative study "The demons in German and French fairy tales". In 1923 he published the two-volume anthology "French folk tales".
