Ernst Veser

Ernst Veser (born January 1946 in Schüller / Eifel; † 1997 in Cologne ) was a German political scientist .

Life

Veser initially did an apprenticeship and passed the examination as a master furrier in 1974 . From 1975 to 1981 he studied politics and sociology at the Cologne University of Education , from which he graduated as a qualified teacher. From 1987 to 1989 he worked as a research assistant for Horst Bahro at the University of Cologne , after which he was given a teaching position from 1993 to 1996. He headed the “Documentation Center on the Portuguese-speaking Countries of Africa” at the Department of Social Sciences, Political Science Department. In 1991 he was promoted to Dr. paed. PhD, habilitation in political science in 1996; then he took over a professorship in political science. In 1997 he was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences in Cologne.

His research topics included u. a. of semi-presidentialism , got for his research, he received international recognition. Veser served as a government advisor in the United States and China. Furthermore, together with Jürgen Zepp, he developed the concept of the simulation game, which is a method for  simulating  complex  real (socio-technical)  systems . In addition to numerous publications, Veser was, among other things, a member of the SPD .
