Ernst Wegener

Ernst Wegener (born April 23, 1863 in Hanover , † April 24, 1945 in Hanover) was a German lawyer and local politician. He worked as a judiciary and mayor in Hanover.

Life

Ernst Wegener passed his Abitur at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in 1883 and studied law in Jena and Bonn. In 1886 he passed the trainee examination, in 1891 the assessor examination. From 1895 he worked as a lawyer and since 1913 as a notary in Hanover. From 1896 to 1919 he was mayor without interruption . In 1902 he was first elected word holder and then confirmed eight times. In 1919 he resigned from office despite being re-elected.

Honors

In Hanover's zoo district, a street built in 1933 is named after him.
