In his “main job” that same year, Heine was project manager for the construction of a satellite town near Al-Khobar in Saudi Arabia. reception

Heine wrote a few stories and books while still working as an architect. However, he only became successful and known with his collection of bizarre, macabre short stories On Board the Titanic (1993). His kill-kille stories , as Heine's satirical short stories are called, have achieved cult status among fans in Germany. He has been recognized as a serious entertainment writer since the publication of the historical fiction Das Halsband der Taube (1994), his first novel to become a best seller.
