Ernst Wilhelm Widmann

Ernst Wilhelm Widmann (born December 30, 1876 in Eßlingen am Neckar ; † May 18, 1955 in Offenbach am Main ) was a Hessian politician ( SPD ) and a former member of the state parliament of the People's State of Hesse in the Weimar Republic .

family

Ernst Wilhelm Widmann was the son of the shoemaker Gottlob Friedrich Widmann and his wife Johanna Veronika née Nüßle. Widmann, who was a Protestant, married Maria Luise née Renz.

politics

Ernst Wilhelm Widmann initially worked as a belt maker. From 1906 to 1918 he was managing director of the German Metalworkers' Association. 1918/1919 he was party secretary in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district , from 1920 state secretary of the SPD Hesse .

Ernst Wilhelm Widmann was a councilor in Göppingen from 1907 to 1910 . From 1910 to 1913 he was a member of the Offenbach Citizens' Committee and from 1922 to 1925 he was a city councilor there. He was a member of the Hessian state parliament in all seven electoral terms of the Weimar Republic. With the seizure of power by the Nazis, he could not continue his political work.
