Ernst von Gayl

Heinrich Carl Anton Ernst Freiherr von Gayl (born May 30, 1832 ; † September 28, 1895 in Magdeburg ) was a Prussian administrative lawyer .

Life

Ernst von Gayl came from the East Prussian noble family von Gayl . He was the son of Ludwig Dietrich Eugen von Gayl (1785-1853), a retired Lieutenant General from Oldenburg . D., last commander of the Oldenburg-Hanseatic Brigade in the German Armed Forces and his second wife Anna, née Hollmann (born June 4, 1796 in Oldenburg; † December 1, 1857 ibid), a daughter of the Oldenburg general superintendent Anton Georg Hollmann. General Peter von Gayl was his older brother.

He studied law and entered the Prussian administrative service. From 1863 to 1870 he was district administrator in the Teltow district and from 1870 to 1877 in the Segeberg district . Then he was a councilor in Magdeburg.

He was married to Marianne, born in 1865. von dem Knesebeck (* 1843)
