Ernst von Gemmingen (landlord)
Ernst von Gemmingen-Hornberg (born November 21, 1794 ; † February 23, 1838 in Mannheim ) was the landlord in Neckarzimmern and owner of Hornberg Castle .
Life
He was a son of Ernst von Gemmingen-Hornberg (1759-1813) and Henriette von Holle (1771-1814). Like his father, he was also considered to be musically gifted and is said to have impressed with his own compositions at the age of twelve. He joined the Württemberg military service early on, where he served first in the infantry and later in the cavalry, but after his father's death in 1813 he turned his back on the military and devoted himself to the administration of his property. The main residence of the family was the New Castle in Neckarzimmern (today the town hall), his property also included Hornberg Castle, which had not been inhabited since around 1740, and he also had property in Beihingen and Michelfeld . He married Charlotte Anna Maria von Horneck in Aschaffenburg in 1820 and later moved to Mannheim to raise his children better, where he died of rubella in 1838 . He and his wife are buried in the castle cemetery near Hornberg Castle.
