The Errahma ( Arabic حزب الرحمة, DMG Ḥizb ar-Raḥma , derived from it with full name also Hizb Errahma , French parti de la miséricorde , German mercy party ; seldom also written Errahmah or al-Rahma ) is a Salafist and strictly conservative party in Tunisia .

history

After the party was allowed to be founded in August 2012 as a result of the revolution in Tunisia 2010/2011 , it unsuccessfully participated in the parliamentary elections in Tunisia in 2014 . In the parliamentary elections in Tunisia in 2019 , Errahma won 40,071 votes or 1.40 percent of the total votes, which put them in 15th place among the parties. In the election, the party received a total of four seats in four constituencies . This meant that the party did not get enough seats to form its own parliamentary group in the People's Representative Assembly , but did not join any other parliamentary group.

While the Secretary-General Saïd Jaziri and Salwa Ben Aycha member remained the party, the deputies were Ahmed Ben Ayed and Mouadh Ben Dhiaf from the party on 21 January 2020 and remained so just like the left in the party's deputies as a non-attached Members in the Assembly of People's Representatives. Ahmed Ben Ayed and Mouadh Ben Dhiaf accused General Secretary Saïd Jaziri of authoritarianism .

Political positions

The Errahma is considered a party of the Salafist current. According to its own understanding, the Errahma identifies with parliamentary democracy , which, after the overthrow of the dictatorship under Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali in 2011 , enabled the establishment of non-secular parties, especially Islamist and Islamic-conservative parties. Nonetheless, the Errahma advocates the incorporation of Sharia law into the Tunisian constitution and also represents some ultra-conservative positions, especially socially conservative ones . With this strictly conservative orientation, it differentiates itself from the important Islamic-conservative Ennahda , which is considered to be moderate Islamist. Just like the Errahma, the al-Karama party also moved into the parliamentary elections in Tunisia in 2019 , which differs from the Errahma , which is dominated by Salafist scholars, primarily through its populist demeanor aimed at young voters.
