The Erramala Hills ( Telugu ఎఱ్ఱమల ) are a low range of hills in South India , in the Kurnool district of the state of Andhra Pradesh . They belong to the Eastern Ghats and extend across the Dekkan Plateau from east to west. They separate the catchment area of ​​the Pennar River in the south from that of the Krishna in the north. The range of hills continues along the Pennar to Kadapa . The hills have been a popular place for officials and missionaries such as Lesslie Newbigin to take summer holidays since colonial times .
