The first Allgemeine Versicherungs-AG was an Austrian insurance company, in the Generali Group Austria rose and consolidated the Assicurazioni Generali belonged SpA. Erste Allgemeine was founded in Vienna by the Italian Assicurazioni Generali in 1882 and listed on the stock exchange from 1886 and initially also belongs to the ATX . From 1987 Erste Allgemeine and Generali have had a common logo.

In 1995 Erste Allgemeine Versicherung was one of the leading five insurers in the motor vehicle insurance sector . Together with the other four competitors, Interunfall Versicherung , Bundesländer Versicherung , Allianz Versicherung and Wiener Städtische Allgemeine Versicherung , they cover over fifty percent of the market. In the 1995 financial year, Erste Allgemeine Versicherung achieved a result of 176.4 million schillings . With retroactive effect from January 1, 1998, Erste Allgemeine Versicherung merged with Generali Leben to form Generali-Versicherung .

Trivia

The Austrian pop rock band Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung has chosen its name based on this company.
