Erwan Bergot

Erwan Bergot (born January 27, 1930 in Bordeaux , Gironde department , † May 1, 1993 in Paris ) was a French officer and writer.

Life

Bergot was of Breton descent. He completed his school days at a Jesuit college and then immediately joined the army. He served in the 11th regiment parachutiste de choc ( Algeria ) and was later transferred to the 6e battalion de parachutistes coloniaux ( Indochina ).

Bergot was captured by the Việt Minh, but escaped injured. Under the orders of Marcel Bigeard , Bergot u. a. at the battle of Dien Bien Phu .

In 1962, back in France, Bergot was entrusted with the management of a magazine for the French army . During this time he also began writing for this magazine. He also tried his hand at larger works and was able to successfully debut as a writer in 1964 with Deuxième classe à Dien-Bien-Phu .

Erwan Bergot died on May 1, 1993 at the age of 63 in Paris, where he found his final resting place.
