Erwin Stolpe (born July 25, 1945 in Rosenheim ) is a German trauma surgeon and pioneer of air rescue .

Stolpe goes to school after the family has moved in Stuttgart . He spent a year and a half of his school days in England. After graduating from high school in Stuttgart, he began studying medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Stolpe received his doctorate in 1977 from the Ludwig Maximilians University and completed his specialist training as a surgeon in 1980 .

1973 Stolpe started his professional life as a medical assistant in the neurology department of the Munich-Harlaching municipal hospital . At the end of 1973 he moved to the surgical department in this function, where he received a permanent position as an assistant doctor under Prof. Erich Kugel in 1974. In 1975 he took over the representation of Hans Burghart as chief helicopter doctor at the rescue helicopter station " Christoph 1 ". In December 1980 he succeeded Burghart as chief helicopter doctor.

Stolpe was a senior physician at the Clinic for Trauma Surgery, Orthopedics and Reconstructive Surgery at the Munich-Harlaching Municipal Hospital (now Harlaching Clinic). Since 1974 he worked for ADAC-Luftrettung GmbH . From 1980 onwards he accompanied air rescue scientifically. Stolpe belonged to the ADAC medical college; For many years he supported the management of ADAC-Luftrettung GmbH as medical director.

Stolpe set milestones in the more than 30 years of his activity for air rescue. It all started with the improved operational benefits of the "S" version of the Bo 105. After that, he played a key role in the introduction of the BK 117, EC 135 and EC 145 helicopter types. The design of the medical equipment of this model bears his signature.

As the head helicopter doctor of "Christoph 1" and Medical Director of ADAC Luftrettung, Stolpe retired after more than three decades of work on November 25, 2015 at the rescue helicopter station in Munich-Harlaching.

He was a member of the board of the European Association for Air Rescue and Air Ambulance (EHAC e.V.) and head of the EHAC Working Group of Medical Directors.

Dr. Erwin Stolpe is deputy chairman of the Claus Enneker Foundation.

Stolpe is married, has three children and lives in Seeshaupt.
