Erwin Turk

Erwin Türk (born November 12, 1934 in Bielefeld ) is a German football player and coach .

Career

Türk played in the 1st district class at TuS OST Bielefeld until 1953 . From 1953 to 1957 he was at VfB 03 Bielefeld in the II. Division West , the Landesliga Westfalen and the Verbandsliga Westfalen on the ball. As an amateur, Türk played once in the Bielefeld district youth team and five times in the Westphalian amateur team . From 1957 to 1964 he played 168 games at VfL Osnabrück in the first-class Oberliga Nord at the time . Türk was appointed to the Lower Saxony team (contract player) four times .

In November 1963 he was operated on on the meniscus and had to end his active career first. After rehabilitation, Türk trained his home club VfB 03 Bielefeld. From 1968 to 1971 Türk coached FC St. Pauli and in 1971 became runner-up in the Regionalliga Nord with his team . He was then committed to VfL Osnabrück for two years and was runner-up in the league with VfL in 1972 and 1973. From 1973 to 1975 he coached Borussia Neunkirchen and became Southwest Champion in 1974, but missed promotion to the Bundesliga with the team . With Neunkirchen he was able to qualify for the newly founded 2nd Bundesliga South . With these three clubs Türk reached the promotion round to the 1st Bundesliga four times in a row.

In December 1974 he underwent an internal ligament operation. Two more knee operations followed. The operations were carried out by Heinrich Heß , the team doctor for the German national soccer team , at the Homburg University Hospital . In May 1975 the contract with Borussia Neunkirchen was dissolved. In 1976, Türk trained the second division club Eintracht Bad Kreuznach for half a year . At the beginning of 1977 he had to end his career for health reasons (60% severe disability, stiff leg). Erwin Türk is married and lives in Leer .
