Erythrodiplax lygaea is a species of dragonfly from the subfamily Sympetrinae . It occurs around the city of São João del Rei in Brazil .
features
The abdomen of the Erythrodiplax lygaea males reaches around 18 millimeters, that of the females 16 millimeters. In the males it is blackish brown with purple tires. The males' abdominal appendages are yellowish. In young males and females, the first three segments are reddish. Segments four to seven are black with yellow spots on the sides. The female rib cage ( thorax ) is reddish. The hind wings reach 21 millimeters in the males as well as in the females. The wing mark ( pterostigma ) measures three millimeters and is cloudy brown. The tip of the wing is colored to about the middle of the pterostigm.
