Castle over Es Port

Es Port is a place on the small Balearic island of Cabrera . The current 20 permanent residents of the island live here.

administration

Administratively, the place as well as the whole island belongs to the municipality of the Mallorcan and Balearic capital Palma or to the autonomous region of the Balearic Islands.

Infrastructure

Es Port is the main town on the island and at the same time the only settlement on the 16 km² island. The only bar and the only public telephone on the island are also located there. The port for shipping traffic with Mallorca is also located on the wide, curved, sheltered bay of the place. Es Port is also the local catering and administrative metropolis for the entire Cabrera archipelago, which consists of Cabrera and 16 other (uninhabited) mini-islands.

tourism

For day tourists on Cabrera, Es Port is the final stop of the travel destination by public transport. Tourists can stay two nights in the Albergue de Cabrera , which was built in 2014 and rents out twelve rooms. Above Es Port are the remains of a fortress from the 14th century.
