biography

Prostewa took part in FIS races and national championships in Russia from the 2005/06 season . In the following winter, she started for the first time in competitions outside her home country. At the European Youth Olympic Festival 2007 in Jaca her only result was the 34th place in the slalom. At the 2007 Junior World Championships in Flachau , she was only 63rd in the giant slalom. After her first podium in an FIS race, she started in the European Cup in December 2007 , but did not score any points in the 2007/08 season. She performed well at the Russian Junior Championships in February 2008 when she finished in the top seven in all disciplines and won the Super-G. At the Junior World Championships in 2008 in Formigal , Spain , she achieved 16th place in the combined ranking.

In the European Cup season 2008/09 Prostewa won her first points in the two Super-Gs of Kvitfjell at the end of November . Three weeks later she finished in the top ten for the first time in the downhill from Altenmarkt-Zauchensee and on January 16, 2009, she achieved her best European Cup result with fourth place in the downhill from Caspoggio . In February she contested her first two World Cup races in Tarvisio , a super combination and a downhill run, in which she was only able to classify in the bottom field and won no World Cup points. At the Junior World Championships 2009 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , her best results were 15th in the downhill and 16th in the Super-G.

On December 18, 2009, Prostewa won her first World Cup points in her fourth World Cup race, the super combination of Val-d'Isère , in 26th place. She was the first Russian since Olesja Aliyeva in October 2002 to win World Cup points. One month later, on January 21, 2010, she finished third in the Super-G in St. Moritz and achieved her first podium in the European Cup. At the 2010 Junior World Championships , her best result was 26th place in the giant slalom. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she took part in all five disciplines. She was 24th in the super-G, 26th in the downhill and 28th in the slalom, but was eliminated in the giant slalom and in the super combined. At the end of the season she won the 2010 Russian Downhill, Super-G and Super Combined Championships and came second in slalom. Due to a back injury, she was sidelined for the entire winter of 2010/11.

In November / December 2011 Prostewa took part in several races in the Nor-Am Cup and won the super combined in Nakiska on December 8th . In the second super combination she was third, which she won the discipline ranking of the 2011/12 season . She also made it onto the podium in a Nor-Am Super-G. In her few World Cup and European Cup starts in winter, however, she remained without points. In March 2012 she became Russian champion in super combined for the second time.
