It was time for the debut album of the Austrian singer Gernot . It was released on June 27, 2008.

background

After participating in Starmania, Universal Music signed Gernot to the Amadeo Austria department in 2007. Shortly afterwards he published the single Neue Helden , which made it to number 13 in the Ö3 Austria Top 40 . The lyrics to the song were written in dialect. In the last Starmania broadcasts, Gernot announced that he would go in the direction of dialect after the casting show. During the spring of 2007, details about the upcoming album were already known. According to Gernot, the three Austrian songwriters Wolfgang Ambros , Georg Danzer and Rainhard Fendrich are said to have composed songs for his long player. The release of the album had been announced for autumn 2007, but Rainhard Fendrich hired him for his tour opening act, so the recordings were postponed.

In May 2008 the one written by Thomas Spitzer was published. second single from Arrivederci from the album, which was to follow. On his homepage, Gernot finally announced the working title of the album Es wara d an der Zeit for the first time . After a short time the album title was changed to Es wara t an der Zeit .

The album contains 8 songs composed by Gernot himself, 3 were created in collaboration with EAV member Thomas Spitzer, and one song each was written by Wolfgang Ambros , Rainhard Fendrich and Georg Danzer . Gernot dedicates a song to Hansi Dujmic, who died in 1988, with the cover version for Delivered .

The iTunes-only download Zruck zu dir , which was written by Thomas Spitzer, was released as a bonus track for the album .
