Esa Jussila (born November 11, 1979 ) is a Finnish floorball coach who trains the men's UHC Alligator Malans team and also supports the Swiss national floorball team as an assistant coach.
Career
As a player
Jussila played a large part of his career with Josba, a club based in Joensuu, Finland . For Josba he played for seven seasons in the first team. He then moved to the Espoo Oilers . After just one season, Jussila switched to UHC Alligator Malans in 2004 . With Alligator Malans he became Swiss champion in the 2005/06 season . After the 2010/11 season, Jussila moved to the record champions SV Wiler-Ersigen . In the first season he won the Swiss floorball championship 2011/12 with the SVWE . The following season he failed with Wiler-Ersigen in the final against his former club UHC Alligator Malans. An injury prevented a return as a player, so he took over the SVWE together with Thomas von Känel after the dismissal of Finnish coach Heikki Luukkonen.
As a trainer
Swiss national floorball team
In the summer of 2013, after his involvement with Wiler-Ersigen ended, the Swiss floorball association swiss unihockey announced that Esa Jussila would be hired as an additional assistant coach for the Swiss national floorball team. He continued this commitment despite moving to Finland.
UHC alligator malans
After Daniel Hahne's release from Alligator Malans , the first rumors arose that Jussila would be the new trainer of the Bündner. On December 15, 2015, the club confirmed that the former player will be the new coach of the Malanser. He took office on January 2, 2016. He received a contract until the end of the 2017/18 season. A year later, on February 21, 2017, it became public that the Finn will leave Alligator after the end of the 2016/17 season. He has declared his return to his native Finland for private reasons.
