The Escalade Peak (English for climbing peak ) is a striking and 2035 m high mountain in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It rises 13 km east of the southern end of the Boomerang Range in the Van Allen Range of the Transantarctic Mountains .
The New Zealand crew of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958) made the name. It is named after vertical rock surfaces that, like steps on a staircase, offer a path to the top of the mountain.
