Escobaria lloydii is a species of plant in the genus Escobaria from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet lloydii honors the cytologist Francis Ernest Lloyd (1868–1947)from Great Britain.

description

Escobaria lloydii grows with several shoots and often forms cushions. There are corked bald warts on the shoots . The several strong central spines are up to 2 inches long. Your approximately 20 slender and radiating radial spines are white.

The greenish flowers are up to 2.5 inches long. The red, spherical fruits are 6 to 12 millimeters long.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Escobaria lloydii is common in the Mexican state of Zacatecas .

The first description by Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose was published in 1923. A nomenclatory synonym is Coryphantha lloydii (Britton & Rose) Fosberg (1931).

Escobaria lloydii is not well known.

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is labeled “ Data Deficient (DD) ”, i. H. with insufficient data.
