Escola Nacional de Belas Artes
Escola Nacional de Belas Artes (ENBA) is a Brazilian art academy affiliated with the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro .
history
On November 20, 1800, the future King of Portugal, John VI. by decree in Rio de Janeiro the Aula prática de desenho e figura . It was the first institution of its kind in Brazil, whose artistic orientation during the colonial period was largely based on the Catholic Church .
On August 12, 1816, with another royal decree, the "Aula prática" was converted into a royal school, Escola Real de Ciências, Artes e Ofícios ; later it became the Academia Imperial de Belas Artes in 1820 .
After the proclamation of the republic, on November 8, 1890, the "Academia Imperial" was restructured into the national art school Escola Nacional de Belas Artes, which existed until 1931 . During Getúlio Vargas ' presidency in 1931, the "Escola Nacional" of the Federal Republican university there was affiliated with as Escola de Belas Artes da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro .
To this day, this art academy has had a great influence on the arts in Brazil and also has an impact on other countries in South America .
