Eslamshahr ( Persian اسلامشهر Eslāmshahr , 'city of Islam', French Islamshahr ), until 1979 Bahramabad , is a city in the Iranian province of Tehran and capital of the administrative district Eslamshahr .

geography

The old, historical name of Bahramabad is only used today to refer to the small northern suburbs of Eslamshahr. At the 2006 census, Eslamshahr had a population of 357,171, divided among 91,293 families.

The city is divided into the quarters of Vavan, Ghaemije, Saidije, Mohammedije, Mahdije, Baghenarde, Salur, Nuri, Ghasemabad, Ahmadabad, Ghods, Baghqfeiz, Zarafschan, Musiabad, Anbia and Mianabad.
