Esma Agolli

Esma Agolli (born July 1, 1928 in Tirana ; † June 5, 2010 there ) was an Albanian actress .

Life

Esma Agolli made her debut as a stage actress at the Tirana National Theater (Teatri Kombëtar) in 1948 . In the course of her career, Agolli has played over 60 roles on stage, in the cinema and on television . Agolli played the classic roles of the theater repertoire, including Olga in Three Sisters , Lena in Leonce and Lena and, in 1960, with Mihal Popi as a partner, the title role in Mirandolina in the Albanian premiere of the play, directed by Selman Vaqarit . In 1980 she officially withdrew from the stage and retired, but continued to return sporadically to the theater stage. In 2005 she played at the Tirana National Theater in the play Streha e të harruarve by Ruzhdi Pulahës .

She made her cinema debut in 1957 as the bride in the short film Fëmijët e saj (Your Children) by Hysen Hakani . In total, she shot another five films, but mainly focused on theater work.

For her artistic achievements Agolli was awarded the title of Honored Artist (Artiste e Merituar) .

According to her family, Agolli died of cardiac arrest on the morning of June 5, 2010 in her home in Tirana . According to her wishes, she was buried in a private family funeral on June 7, 2010.
