Esmeriz is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in northern Portugal .
Esmeriz belongs to the Vila Nova de Famalicão district in the Braga district . The community had an area of 3.9 km² and 2218 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the parishes of Esmeriz and Cabeçudos were merged to form the new parish União das Freguesias de Esmeriz e Cabeçudos . Esmeriz is the seat of this newly formed community.
