The Estádio Milton Corrêa , also known as Zerão (from Portuguese zero : zero ), is a football stadium in Macapá , the capital of the Brazilian state of Amapá . It is usually used for football matches of the Amapá Clube , Esporte Clube Macapá , Trem Desportivo Clube and Ypiranga Clube clubs. The facility bears the name of Milton de Souza Corrêa, a former president of the Amapá Football Association (Federação Amapaense de Futebol).
The building's nickname, Zerão, comes from the fact that the center line of the pitch coincides exactly with the equator line, at least according to a geodetic reference system commonly used in Brazil (not in accordance with WGS84 ), which means that each team has its half of the game in one hemisphere . According to the WGS84 definition, however, the equator runs through the south stand; so the playing field itself is completely in the northern hemisphere. No games had been played since 2007; After a renovation phase, the sports facility was reopened on February 15, 2014. The state selection Amapas played against those of the state of Rio de Janeiro , with some big names in Brazilian football present.
