The Estadio Bellavista is a multifunctional stadium in Ambato , Tungurahua Province , Ecuador . It is mostly used for football matches and is the home stadium of the Mushuc Runa Sporting Club , Club Social y Deportivo Macará and Club Deportivo Técnico Universitario clubs . The stadium has 16,467 or 18,000 or 20,000 spectators.

history

The first construction of the stadium was completed in 1945. The official opening took place on July 24, 1945. Four years later, on August 5, 1949, it was almost completely destroyed by an earthquake that shook Ambato. Shortly afterwards, the reconstruction of the stadium began, which was reopened a year later in 1950. In 1989 and 1993 the stadium was renovated. During the Copa América 1993 some games were played in the stadium. In 2014 it was decided to renovate and convert it for the Copa América 2024 . In a first step, the floodlight system was renewed.
