The Estadio Beto Ávila is a baseball stadium in Cancún in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo . The stadium opened in the 1980s.

use

The Estadio Beto Ávila is mainly used for baseball games. The professional baseball team Tigres de Quintana Roo from the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol has played its home games in the stadium since 2007. Before that, it served their league rivals Langosteros de Cancún from 1996 to 2005 as a venue.

The stadium's first modernization took place in 1996 with the inclusion of the Langosteros as the league's first LMB franchise by order of the then governor of the state of Quintana Roo , Mario Villanueva . After the Langosteros were relocated in 2005, the stadium stood still for two years before the Tigres, a new team from the top Mexican baseball league, started playing in Cancún. As a result, the Estadio Beto Ávila was completely renovated in 2006 and 2007 and its capacity more than doubled from 4,500 to 9,500 seats.

It is also used for soccer , including the 2010 CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup .
