The Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi ( German Jorge Luis Hirschi Stadium ) is a football stadium in the Argentine city of La Plata . It was built in 1907 and held a total of 28,000 spectators by 2005. After the renovation, there are 30,018 places for visitors.
The local football club Estudiantes de La Plata plays its home games here. In September 2005, the facility was closed due to stricter regulations of the Argentine Football Association, which stipulated no more wooden stands. The club moved to the Estadio Ciudad de La Plata while the Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi was renovating. The venue was reopened on November 9, 2019, 14 years after the last game by Estudiantes.
Neighboring stadiums
In the same area is also the Estadio Juan Carmelo Zerillo , also known as El Bosque ( The Forest ) because it is in a wooded area. The Estadio Ciudad de La Plata was also built in 2003.
