The Estadio Universitario BUAP is an athletics stadium on the grounds of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla in the south of the Mexican city of Heroica Puebla de Zaragoza . It serves as the home ground of the Lobos de la BUAP football team .
history
The stadium was built in the late 1990s after the Lobos BUAP soccer team was launched for the third time in 1996 (after 1939 and 1966).
To make it suitable for the higher leagues in professional football , it was rebuilt and expanded in 2011.
When the Luis de la Fuente El Pirata stadiums of Tiburones Rojos Veracruz and Cuauhtémoc of city rivals Puebla FC were rebuilt or used for other purposes in 2014/15, the Estadio Universitario BUAP served these clubs temporarily as the home ground in Liga MX .
With the rise of Lobos BUAP at the end of the second division season 2016/17 , the stadium will be a permanent venue in the first division in the season 2017/18 .
