Estonian badminton championship
The Estonian Badminton Championships started in 1965 as the championship of the Estonian Soviet Republic. After the collapse of the Soviet Union , they have been official country championships since 1993. The hosting of junior championships began in the same year, international title fights have existed in Estonia since 2004. Team championships have only been held in 1996 so far.
The championships arose from the USSR championship in badminton . After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Azerbaijan , Armenia , Belarus , Estonia , Georgia , Latvia , Lithuania , Moldova , Russia and Ukraine started their own championships within the European Badminton Federation (EBU), while Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan found a new home in the Asian Badminton Federation found.
