Ītyoṗya, Ītyoṗya, Ītyoṗya, qidä mī ( Amharic ኢትዮጵያ, ኢትዮጵያ, ኢትዮጵያ ቅደሚ Ethiopia, Ethiopia, Ethiopia, go ahead ) was the national anthem of the People's Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the second national anthem in the history of Ethiopia .

history

In 1975 the military overthrew the Negus Haile Selassie , the old hymn Ityopya hoy dess yibelisch was no longer up-to-date, so the Derg introduced a new hymn. The text was written by Assefa Gebre-Mariam Tessama , the music was composed by Daniel Yohannes Haggos . Official translations are available in eleven national languages ​​as well as in English , French , Arabic and Russian . After the fall of the communist regime in 1991 , a new hymn, Wädäfit Gäsgeshi Wudd Ennate Ityop'ya , was adopted a year later .
